DJ Maphorisa has joined Black Coffee on the line-up for Gallo 100: The Sound of a Century, the Cape Town event marking a century of Gallo Record Company. The celebration is scheduled for 15 December 2026 at the Grand Parade.

Maphorisa is billed to deliver a specially curated Afro House set. His addition places one of contemporary South African dance music’s most commercially influential producers alongside Black Coffee at an event designed to connect Gallo’s historic catalogue with the present tense of African club music.

Gallo’s archive cuts across jazz, mbaqanga, isicathamiya, maskandi, gospel, reggae, soul, kwaito and house. That makes the centenary more than a conventional festival anniversary: it is also a public staging of how recorded South African music has moved between generations, formats and scenes.

Maphorisa’s booking is particularly pointed. His career has crossed house, gqom, Afropop and Amapiano, while his Scorpion Kings partnership with Kabza De Small has helped take Amapiano from township dance floors into stadium-scale live production.

For audiences, the practical detail is simple: Gallo 100 takes place at Cape Town’s Grand Parade on 15 December. Further programme additions may still follow, but Black Coffee and DJ Maphorisa now give the event a clear contemporary anchor.
